Carver Event Center Spring 2021 Venue Open House

Preview of the Renovated School House

I am honored to be a Portland wedding photographer that owners, Lynda and Bryon, choose for their preferred wedding vendor list, at their historic school house wedding venue, Carver Event Center, in Damascus, OR.

When they asked me to join the wedding vendors at their open house I was excited! Not only did it feel like a little touch of normal, but I have been so excited to see everything they accomplished last year. They have been hard at work for much longer then that on the wedding venue as a whole and remodeling the school house. It has been fun to witness and photograph for them changes to the property over time. It gives you such a great appreciation for how much work goes into every room.

If you have never attended an open house, they are a great way to tour any wedding or event venue for the first time. If you have already booked your wedding venue, it's a good opportunity to revisit and finalize plans for your wedding day. Or like in this case, a chance to see any upgrades or remodeling your wedding venue has done. Plus, you are always welcome to bring along any friends and/or family.

I just love how they kept the original classroom chalkboards and the basketball backboards in the gym. And they put lockers in near the restrooms, which are not only cute but great for wedding guests! It's thoughtful touches like that, that show the history of this unique building and help to tell the story.

I always enjoy the opportunity to meet couples face to face. I think connecting with your wedding photographer is important, and what better way then to say "hello" in person.

Also on the scene was Charlene, from Two Chicks and a Rooster Catering and BBQ. They describe themselves as a full service, all occasion caterer. Catering for all life events, personal and professional. They say "Food is our PASSION. Service is our SPECIALTY." This day they were serving caprese skewers, ham and cheese spirals, grilled chicken bruschetta, teriyaki chicken skewers, fresh fruit, and my personal favorite, some really good meatballs.

After some snacks, people would be crazy not to stop for a cold treat from The Mobile Scoop Shop. Their service is turnkey, interactive, and just fun. Plus with their dairy and non-dairy options, it is something everyone at your wedding can and will enjoy! As they say "Is it even a party without ice cream?" Pat was scooping up everyone's choice of cherry cordial, lemon, caramel butter pecan, french vanilla, mint chocolate chip, and mudslide. I haven't found of flavor of theirs I don't love yet!
