LGBTQIA+ Winter Gorge Engagement Photography Session at Latourell Falls | Corbet, Oregon

Cristal & Amanda

When Two Veterinarians Fall in Love

I was so excited to be the Portland engagement photographer that Cristal & Amanda choose for their gorge engagement photography session at Latourell Falls in Corbet, OR.

At the time Amanda & Cristal had been together for almost 3 years. The two met working together as veterinarians at a clinic in New Mexico. Eventually a love would blossom and they would set off on a new adventure to Washington and making a home in Vancouver.

Since so many of their friends ended up following them out to the pacific northwest, they made it a tradition to have Friendsgiving shortly after Thanksgiving. In fact, it was on a previous Friendsgiving, where they had nervously announced their relationship to all of their friends. Cristal felt like that made it just the right time to pop the question. That night, in preparation for a pending toast, their friends pulled out some fancy glasses. But there Amanda stood, with a can of, something. Their friends offered to put her drink in a fun glass and Amanda said, nah that’s ok, Cristal poured some in anyway. Cristal admits to having rehearsed everything she would say when she proposed, but when the time came, fewer words came out then planned. But the important words came out, and after a little cup shuffling, Amanda said yes!

When it came time to choose a location for their engagement photography session, they settled on the beautiful surrounds of Latourell Falls, located within Guy W. Talbot State Park. According to the Oregon State Parks website, Guy Webster Talbot and his family used this property as a summer estate until 1929 when they donated it to the state or Oregon. Can you imagine this beautiful location being your private summer hang out?

I asked Cristal & Amanda if they would mind sharing a few more tales from their love store, this is what they said.

What's one thing that drew you to your significant other?

Cristal: "One of the many things that drew me to Amanda was her complete acceptance and lack of judgement of people, it's not a quality that most people have, even if they actively try."

Amanda: "Right away it was easy to see, Cristal has a great deal of strength and a solid moral compass, one that is followed even in the hardest of times, the best heart ❤. And of course, the laughter - I know, I said more than one ... There's just so many things."

What are you most excited about for your wedding day?

"We are the most excited to share the moment where we will mark our coming together forever, with those who love us the most. And the tacos, lol."

What's one thing you're looking forward to in your life-after-marriage together?

"We aren't sure what the future holds, but we are looking forward to finding this out together :)"

It always means so much when engaged couples take the time to leave a review after our photography session. Reviews are a great resource for newly engaged couples shopping for a Portland engagement or wedding photographer. Cristal left this 5-star review on Google, after I took their engagement photos:

"Cambrae is it! We just had our engagement session and the photos came out sooooo good!! We had a blast during our session and she was a big part of that. Neither of us are big picture-taking people and aren’t naturally comfortable in front of the camera, but Cambrae is good at making it not matter. She captured who we are and created beautiful, artful photos we will have forever. Can’t wait to have her there to capture us and share in our joy at our wedding!!"

Amanda and Cristal bought a stand out metal wall print from their family engagement photo. Wall art like this is a great way to enjoy your engagement session everyday. Plus you can use it for decoration at your wedding. Speaking of weddings, I can't wait to photograph theirs!
