Bringing the Whole Family Together
I was excited to be the Portland family photographer that Jessi and David choose for extended family and pets photography session at Hoyt Arboretum.
Jessi and David's son Ken was growing fast. At 4 months old, they wanted to capture him while he was still little. They also wanted to include their extended family and dogs in the photos. Jessi said they probably hadn't had a full family photo taken with her parents and sisters in maybe 5 years, so it was time!
I love dogs! And I love when people include their dogs or other pets in their family photos. They are after all, a part of the family. They can be a wild card sometimes, but planning ahead, bringing some treats, a toy, or picking a location without a lot of distractions can help.
When I asked her why else she wanted to include the whole family in this photography session, this is what she said:
"My relationship with my extended family is different than most I think. Renting from my mom, my dad living with us (at the time), a rebuilt relationship with my sister. They definitely mean a lot to me, and I think it meant a lot to them to be included."
Jessi said that family photography was important to her because it helps capture memories. And that it was so nice to be able to look back at the pictures and remember that time.
Their son, Ken, is an absolute cutie! He is named after Jessi's Grandfather. It always adds a little something special when a child's name belonged to another special family member. It's a great way to honor them.
After our family photography session, Jessi shared about their experience by leaving a review on Facebook, this is what she had to say:
